About Harmony Interiors

Harmony Interiors can assist you with a variety of projects in residential design.  We can help with anything from a large-scale kitchen remodels to simply changing out the wall color in your master bedroom. No job is too big or too small.

Our homes are in a constant state of flux because our lives are always changing.  The home is never a static entity and we need to treat it as a space that is dynamic and has the power to uplift, restore, and give us a sense of calm.  Problems arise when our homes stop keeping pace with our busy lives.  Unused rooms filled with items that don’t seem to have a place, disorganized closets, and pictures that have been in the same place for 10 years.  You get used to things the way they are even if they don’t work, it can be hard to see things in a different way.  We are those fresh pair of eyes who can bring in new ideas and help you to re-imagine your spaces.

To make these changes we need you and all your valuable input!  We need to learn a lot about your lifestyle and family before we can begin making changes.  Your needs and wants for the space are the most valuable piece in solving any design challenge.  You have the answer and it’s our job to simply bring it forth and let it unfold as we move along in the design process.  We will present you with a several options, but the final decisions are made by you.  You are always in control of your selections and I work hard at not trying to be overly influential in this process.  I will give you my thoughts and professional opinions, but ultimately, we want you (and those you share the space with) to love the choices you’ve made.

History

I grew up in a small rural town in Minnesota and I've always been very sensitive to how a space feels, how well it works, and it’s potential.  I’ve had this insatiable drive to create well-functioning, organized and beautiful spaces my entire life.  Yet, I didn't consider it as a career until later in life.

Shortly after completing high school I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue a college degree.  I studied Political Science at UC Berkeley and worked as a nanny as means to put myself through school.  Upon graduating, I went into a career completely unrelated to my field of study.  I choose to enter the domestic services industry because I loved homes and working with families.   For decades I  managed the homes and personal lives of busy professionals, creating organizational systems in every aspect of their homes, allowing their private spaces and family to function optimally.  I spent most of my adult life in this career and enjoyed it thoroughly, yet as the years rolled by, I knew there was something more I was yearning for.

I took a few years off from working to be at stay at home mom to my two young children and to explore the next stage of my career.  It was during this time period that I discovered my passion for interior design!  My family and I had recently moved back to Minnesota and we didn't want to buy until we knew where in the Twin Cities we really wanted to land.   As we moved from one rental to another in search of the right location for our family, I discovered that I loved making each new home our own.    At this point I already had an innate talent for “putting a room together,” but I wanted to truly understand the history, theories, principles and elements of design.  So while my two children were in preschool, I went back to school to earn my Associates Degree in Interior Design.

Our homes are our sacred spaces, where we renew and nourish ourselves daily.  If our homes are not filled with things that make us smile, we don’t get any joy from the space and it affects the way we feel and act in our homes.  With decades of experience in household management coupled with my passion for creating one of a kind spaces I’ve created a unique design firm that can not only transform your home, but your life!
